hi all, I like a lot the splash from Salvatore, it looks kind of
"sexyer" than the rounded one.
could we use that with an old map?
Thanks, I done a new one with the old map suggested from Andre Joost !
You can look at it here:
http://lrssvt.ns0.it/img/splash_oldmap_shadow.png
In the U.S. the color aquamarine (the blue you have used) is heavily
associated with the 1950's-60's, and generally not in a flattering way.
As such a color, IMHO it brings up connotations of being out-of-touch
with modern values and design idioms. Please try the splash screen with
a different base color, which has deeper, richer tones, and maybe a very
slight gradient, if you have the time.
Yes, same here, going for non rounded and modern look is super, but the
aquamarine breaks it all a bit. and mybe have the map a bit more saturated.
Also, a redesign of the main 'Q' logo may dictate what complimentary or
background colors are used in the new splash screen. So, maybe that logo
redesign needs to be addressed or finished before more definitive work
on a new splash screen.
definetly
thanks a lot

Larry

It would be great

Hi Salvatore
For me it would be a -1 I'm afraid :-(
We made an informal decision to use old maps and place
names (typically a previous hack fest venue) for our
splashes.
:-( I was not aware of that decision on splashes,
anyway I'd like very much see a different splash
in the new release slightly more elegant and if possible
with squared borders, keeping the same logic.
I also issued a new topic in the bug tracker [1],
so everyone may leave any feedback on it.
I will put there the SVG version of my proposed.
BTW, thanks for your replies !

Hi all,
this morning I was playing with inkscape for a new
splash screen for QGIS 2.0,
and the result is the attached image [1], I like it,
but I am not sure if it looks good to you!
Here the video that shows QGIS on startup:

What you think about it ?
