For the average user (even power user might not know how or want to mess around 
with it) - --configpath is not usable on OS X to set a different config path.  
Nobody starts QGIS or any other app on OS X from the command line.  It is not 
possible to create a shortcut on OS X that starts an app with different startup 
options.
