Dear QGIS Developer Community QGIS 2.8 is drawing close and we would like to use some of our QGIS funds to pay two core developers for one week each. In the past we have simply appointed two developers. However we would like to be more open about the appointment process and invite any suitably qualified developer to place their name in the register of developers we select from when we do bug fixing.
The process will work as follows: 1) If you are a QGIS core developer (or have a strong track record of contributions to the QGIS project) and would like to be eligible to do bug fixing work, let the PSC know, along with your day rate in euros (which we will keep confidential) and we will (subject to PSC approval) add your name to the roster of developers who can be employed to do paid bug fixing. Approval will be based on the PSC being satisfied that you have the skills to carry out bug fixing work. 2) In the run up to each release, the PSC will determine what budget we have available and approach one or more of the developers on our roster to see if they are available for paid bug fixing. Selection will be made based on skills of the developer and the critical areas in QGIS that need bug fixing. We will also welcome third parties to sponsor additional days of developer time and will make available the names and rates of the developers on the list for this purpose. Thus if you are a core developer and are interested in participating in the programme, may I ask you to please send an email to the PSC mailing list indicating your availability? Thanks very much on behalf of the QGIS PSC -- Tim Sutton - QGIS PSC Member
