Hi,
There is enough funding in the QGIS.ORG project funds to pay someone to
work on fixing important issues.
But someone has to do it. And I guess there need to be proper bug reports.

Hi Paolo,
Maybe it's easy enough to debug and release 2.8.6 immediately?
I would assume that some of the beneficiaries of this huge success would
be able to fund fixing this issue.
Even so, leaving a buggy supposed LTR around, even for a few days, does
not speak well about our QA, that's why I suggested to revert
immediately, and yes, seeking for funders of the bug (I understand
Andreas has potential donors already).
All the best.
