Hi all, The email chain below is just one example of a user who has issues with QGIS after installing the OpenLayers plugin. Stackexchange is filled with similar examples (See http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/tagged/qgis-openlayers-plugin).
I'm wondering if it's time we discussed the future of this plugin. Now that we have a viable replacement (Quick Map Services) which doesn't demonstrate these issues, should we deprecate the OpenLayers plugin and remove it from the plugin repo? I have been doing some additional testing, it appears to relate to having a few maps on the canvas that use the Open Street Map underlay. The behavior is pretty much as noted in the referenced issue. Even with a single OSM underlay, while I do get an export, the underlay is not complete, i.e. jagged edges where some tiles are missing in the exported png, even though they do appear on the map. I will try QuickMapServices.plugin. Thanks.
