The huge benefit of the feature implementing server-side simplification is the reduction in data downloaded. Yes, we can do as you say, but we'll lose that benefit. It will be interesting to see if the tolerance can be changed to get rid of the errors. If so, is there a logical pattern to the required tolerance which QGIS can then implement to retain server-side simplification but remove the errors?
