The files have 0 bytes and I did not consciously create them. Perhaps
they should only be created on demand?
Otherwise, it is good to have this auxiliary data storage option.

Indeed, they probably shouldn't exist when there is no data to store.

I noticed that along my .qgs (version 3) project files there are
.qgd files with the same filename but different extension. They
are always empty.
Can someone help me find out what these files are and why they are
