Hurray!  The feed is flowing...

Thanks!

Ok, second try.

Apparently we had to append /github to the url provided...

But NOW we have green checkmarks!

PS: apparently we also have a
 https://issues.qgis.org/github_hook (push)
webhook that fails??

The webhook is called whenever there is activity on Github. It should
simply post a description and link to the repository change.

This tutorial shows the setup. json is correct....

I just added your url as webhook, but does not seem to work.

Configured it as 'sent all' and tried both xml and json payload.

Is your url active?
What is it you are expecting?

Hi Joshua

Out of curiosity, what is the link between minetest and QGIS? I have
seen tools to create Minecraft worlds with QGIS / GIS layers, are you
doing something similar with Minetest? If so could you share your
workflows for doing that?

Tim

Hi Richard,

I sent a reply direct to your email a couple of days ago but it may
have endned up in your spam folder. Sending it here again just in
case.

_Here is what I sent along with the Discord webhook URL..._

I too believe in open source principles and have been helping my son
contribute to Minetest (LGPL). There is a strong presence of
Minetest contributers on Discord so I set up an account there. The
devs did not want to make Discord an official communication HUB of
Minetest, though they understood it's importance to the community
and allowed a Github feed to be sent to there. There is an active
presence of like minded folks on the Minetest Discord where users
discuss modding of the game, ask for help from other members and
share their works.

I then looked for a QGIS Discord server but couldn't find one. I
decided to make one for other people who wanted the same thing. In
just a couple of days since launching the server we now have 28
members _(now 35)_.

Discord currently has 130 million registered users and is growing.
Many people would happily join a Discord QGIS server because they
already use Discord and log in everyday. And many of these people
would not join other QGIS communication sites because it would be
another app they need to use or another website they need to log
into each day.

My vision for this server is to have it function much the same way
it does for Minetest. A place to hang out, ask questions, contribute
and showcase work. Having a Github feed would allow members to keep
appraised of the latest core development and perhaps inspire them to
contribute by making their own pull requests. I believe this Discord
server will have a net positive effect for QGIS.

Regards,

Joshua

Hi,

I started an unofficial QGIS Discord server and would like one of
our
channels to have a live feed of Github commits. A webhook would have
to
be set up by a QGIS github admin. Is this possible?

I can provide the Discord webhook in a direct email or Slack DM to
the
admin who will need it.

The discord server is at: https://discord.gg/9eA7P6U

Hi Joshua,

You can sent me the url ([email protected]), but maybe we first have
to
discuss here a little what would be the benefit (for us as QGIS
community).

I'm not familiar with Discord, but Wikipedia tells me:
"Discord is a proprietary freeware VoIP application and digital
distribution platform designed for video gaming communities..."

I like the idea of non devs having some insight about what is going
on
(though we do have github itself, and gitter [1]), and which makes
me
wonder how many communication channels we want to serve), and if it
would not be more appropriate to use some FOSS tool for this?

Can you tell us a little more about your plans?

Richard Duivenvoorde
