Depends. If you're using a distribution that doesn't have the necessary dependencies for the newer version, the newer version will never reach the repo for that distribution. But you'll still get the notification about the latest version and in this case it just means that you not only have to upgrade QGIS to get it. Jürgen -- Jürgen E.
