Hi James, Similar issue was reported on the MDAL repo: https://github.com/lutraconsulting/MDAL/issues/155
ADCIRC netcdf appears not to be fully compliant with UGRID and hence you get the error. I hope this helps. If not, please open a ticket on MDAL and pass us some example file and we can dig in deeper to find the issue.
