Hi! I'm about compiling gdal to get a gdal with ECW and MrSid support in ubuntu hardy following http://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/Instalar_Grass_e_Qgis_em_Ubuntu_8.04_(com_ECW_e_MrSID)
Considering that I have QGIS installed from binaries for ubuntu, should I generate another version of gdal or should I remove the gdal that I have first? In the second case, will I be able to tell QGIS where the new gdal is or would I have to compile QGIS as well? Having support for ECW and MrSID from QGIS would be great, but I rather don't go for the QGIS compilation now: a gdal version with which change formats with gdaltools would be enough by now.
