Dear Sanatan, In my case, I just installed in "C:\Users\wirotela\Quantum GIS\" and made a shout cut to "C:\Users\wirotela\Quantum GIS\qgis.exe" work well for ver 0.11 and 1.0 beta.
My machine is Vista home basic.
