keeping the scape by re-zooming is a very good idea - if its possible to
do that automatically you have my vote on this idea..

But it works at mine. It seems like switching to meters disabled the scale
recomputating. Maybe it's too far simplification? Anyway, what about optional
(configurable) possibility of keeping the scale by re-zooming when panning?
