Among the release notes for 1.3.0 the new improvement: "Identify
features across multiple layers" is listed. I can't figure out what
this means or how it works. Can someone enlighten me?

Go to the map tools tab in QGIS options dialog and switch the identify mode
from "Current layer" to "Top down". After that you'll get features from
multiple layers, when you uses the identify tool.

Ah ha. Thanks for that. This evening I'll add a section to the user's guide to cover this new feature.

You can also select (actually you block) the layers you want identify to work
on in the "identifiable layers" tab in the project options.
