Thanks, this is a nice workaround, as I'm actually making
the gpx files out of compegps files through gpsbabel.
Anyway, the gps plugin should contemplate the possibility of opening
multiple files
and open vector layer should let you select the actual layer for all
selected files
(otherwise the ability to select multiple files is not useful).
Also, is there any way to tell the layer at startup? i.e.
qgis *.gpx -t
for selecting the track layer of each gpx file.

Hi Agus,
You can combine them into a single file with gpsbabel:

It might also be possible using the append and update flags with
ogr2ogr, but not sure.

Hi!
I have to open many (~50) gpx files with gps tracks.
The gps plugin let select just one file at a time. I can select
all of the files with Add vector layer, but then I'm prompted to
select the layer (waypoints, routes, tracks, route_points, track_points)
for each file. Is there any way to bypass this step so that I open
the track layer only for all files? Perhaps through a python
command issued on the python console?
If I use
qgis *.gpx
as startup, I open the files but as point layers, which are actually
empty.
Thanks
Agus
