There is a side issue to this that came up on the R-sig-geo mailing list
and I referred them to OSGeo4w. Users of 64bit R are looking for a 64bit
version of gdal (which would also likely be a requirement for 64bit
QGIS). Specifically they need a 64bit gdal for use with 64bit rdgal that
wraps gdal allowing import of data into R. This might apply to R based
QGIS plugins too if someone happens to install 64bit R.

Just wanted to put that on the radar, I'll probably bring it up on the
OSGeo4W list too.
