I agree - I once did a shaded relief of the Kilimanjaro with v.surf.rst for calculating a DEM from contour lines and elevation points.

The results where much better than with TIN or ESRIs topogrid module. It was only a bit tricky because of the longer computing times and memory management.

If you want really good results I recommend looking into v.surf.rst.

Hi Jeremy

You might try a different interpolation then. In the interpolation plugin, you
could use inverse distance weighting. In GRASS, there is v.surf.rst which I
think is a good choice for smooth surfaces.

Hi,

Starting with a point vector shapefile, I did a TIN interpolation with the
QGIS plugin. If I try to shade it as it is, the result is full of
irregularities (1). Is there a method to smooth the result ?

Thanks !

Jeremy
