First this is a QGIS question, not a a GRASS question. Should be asked on [email protected] No GDAL\OGR does not directly read LAS you need liblas http://liblas.org/utilities/las2ogr.html Alternately GRASS does contain functionality to deal with lidar http://grass.osgeo.org/wiki/LIDAR#Import_LAS_as_vector_points Though it looks like you'll need to use Liblas to convert the data to text 1st for GRASS.
