Thanks a lot for all theses explanations.

Hi Paul,

The pattern editors (line patteren fills and raster pattern fills) are
only in trunk, not in 1.7.2

You need the trunk version to use this new feature.

Alternatively you can use SVG fill patterns where you can easily also
simulate line pattern fills, be specifying an SVG file with parallel
vertical or horizontal lines and then adapt width/height and rotation.
This also works with 1.7.2

You can use Inkscape to draw the pattern (it can only be one or two
horizontal or vertical lines) and then save it where all the other SVG
files reside.

Hope this helps,
Andreas

Hi Marco,

This 'line pattern fill' pattern should be a wonderful feature; but I do
not find it.

I didn't find it either in the QGIS Manual. This is the description
found in page 50:
Symbol layer type options for polygon layers
                 – SimpleFill: Color, Fill style, Border color, Border
style, Border width

Where am I missing something?

Using 1.7.2. on windows Vista sp2.

Hi Bernhard

If you go to new symboloy and select symbol layer type 'line pattern
fill', you could e.g. set 'distance' to 2 (mm or map units) and width
to 1.

Marco

Dear all,

I need a fill style with a diagonal pattern where the color and the
gap both have the same width.
Any hints how to achieve this?

Bernhard
