Hi Matt
It is ready to use. There might be some smaller issues to fix in the
branch. However if you just need a background map, it should be no problem.
The code is available on github, repository
git://github.com/mhugent/Quantum-GIS.git

Yes, it's a transparent raster. Is the work in raster_resampling ready
to use, or need I try something else?
Thanks,

Hi Matt
Is the raster image transparent? It is a known issue that there is
banding with transparent rasters (because the raster is printed in
several pieces with a small overlap). There is work underway in the
raster_resampling branch to draw the pieces without overlap (in fact,
the credits go to Radim here since it is only possible to avoid the
overlaps after his raster provider redesign).
If the raster is fully opaque, it might be a different issue.

Hi,
I'm using a GeoTIFF with a color map, and when I use print composer
to export I get banding across the image if I set the quality above
100dpi. Any thoughts?
I'm using QGIS 1.9.90 nightly (updated about 4 hours ago) on Ubuntu
11.10.
