Here are the results of a small bench: Qgis 1.7.4 Standalone. Windows server 2003 + citrix XenAPP. It is on virtualized shared servers, though I don't know if servers are really busy or not.
1- Qgis with 20 plugins activated: First startup takes about 50 seconds, and different steps are linear (30 s to restore python plugins) Second startup takes about 15 seconds, and still seems linear. 2- Qgis with *no* plugin activated. First startup takes 20 s Second startup takes less than 4s New behaviour observed today (to be confirmed). I started Qgis and let it inactive for two hours at lunch. I came back, quit Qgis, and startup is again slow. I start up again and it is fast again.. So, I guess there is no relation with session initializing. I'm going to check what's happening with virtual machine underneath..
