Hi, Today I reached the same problem. In the middelof a lecture with 25 students 3 sessions crashed with no warnings. I had the same lecture last week with no problems... I tried to work with the data myself for 1 hour. 2 times it crashed again, but without a significant reason. We have been using WMS-layer and shape layer. A the first pc, it started with polygons didn´t appear after filling out the attributes. Trying to save - a crash. At the second pc : While digitizing and editing. After moving an object and then digitizing it was impossible to save the layer. We use Snapping Options to Vertex and Segments. This we didn´t use last week at the first lessons. Hope anyone can help.

If Im the only one getting these crashes then its safe to assume that there's something wrong "on my end". I keep getting them in two machines and I have made numerous attempts to understand what the hell is wrong with this. Maybe it is some specific configuration parameter of QGIS, I dont know. Fortunately for me there are other FOSS softwares I can use to do what I need and If I ever get rid of these crashes and find out what was causing them I will make sure to tell you. Thanks again for help and efforts Cheers On Mon, May 21, 2012 at 1:36 PM, Giovanni Manghi <[email protected]> wrote: Hi Filipe, > With tiff - on a new and clean project (opened, loaded .tiff and shp > and started digitizing), this problem doesnt seem to occur, or at > least is a lot less frequent. > > With WMS - it depends, sometimes I dont get any crashes for 2/3 hours, > and on other occasions I get crash after crash. > > If indeed Im the only user affected by this, Ill switch to another > software and be done with it. Hi Filipe, I don't have any particular interest in confirming or not a bug. In this case I cannot confirm. I tested your data for 20/30 minutes and didn't get a crash. Last week I had to do a job that involved digitizing (using the same WMS layer you cite) and didn't get any crash in many hours of work. Does this mean that the issue is not confirmed? no... but as I tested on two OS including the one you use it is suspicious that can be a local problem. The only thing that does not convince me is that you get the crash on two different machines. Maybe the issue is caused by a specific QGIS configuration parameter? Would you be able to test in Linux, so it will be possible to get the eventual error message from the Linux console? cheers -- Giovanni --
