On the other hand the problem may be considered as an UBUNTU UNITY bug. And the Unity developers should resolve this issue.
Somebody had tried QGIS on Mint? It looks like the Mint in the nearest future will be more popular then Ubuntu (by the way – Ubuntu Unity is one the reasons).
