Is DXF support going to be much improved in gdal 1.10?
It is more a question about improvements in QGIS rather than in GDAL. GDAL offers stuff (esp. feature styling, block handling, labeling) that QGIS does not use. As DXF support is improved in QGIS there may be improvements/fixes in GDAL as well.
