Hi Morten,

I still don't understand what is missing for you?

QGIS Server is a WMS and WFS server. OpenLayers can consume WMS and WFS. What are you missing? Everything is there for you to integrate. There is even a plugin (QTiles) than can export tile structures so you don't need to install QGIS server: http://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/qtiles/

QGIS cloud is using QGIS web client (a slightly different version) - it also uses QGIS server and and a Python plugins. Everything in QGIS cloud is open source. Non-commercial maps are free, for commercial services they charge. I think is ok. After all they have to rent a server, install and configure everything, etc. It is normal that you pay for a web server.

Hope this helps,
Andreas

Hi Andreas

I like the Openlayers solutions because:
* It is pure open source and free
* I can modify everything I like (or at least the parts I understand ;-)
* I can fully integrate it in me web designs
* I can move it from my computer to anywhere by just copying on usb stick
* No need to install any server software or the like

The more solutions the better but I have problems with QGIS Cloud. First of
all I have never been able to do a map - I have only seen a lot of error
messages (bad file descriptors, translations errors, unable to handle local
characters etc.). Not even a simple test map just uploading c:\temp\test.shp
can be done.

Secondly I think it is somehow not open source any more when my maps are
stored on server with commercial interests in a format I don't have any
access to (as far as I know at least).

I do not have access to a server where I can install QGIS web client so it
is not an option.
