I think you got two things wrong:
- eastern coordiantes are positive, Western negative.
- coordinates must be in decimal degrees, not degrees.minuteseconds.
According to wikipedia, the Aitutaki atoll is at
18° 51′ 0″ S, 159° 47′ 9″ W
-18.85°, -159.785833°
