Dear list,
the fact that SLD/SE 1.1 import/export has been introduced in QGIS is great and I would like to share some thoughts.

The QGIS style builder offers some nice Categorized and Graduated user interfaces. Given that you build a Graduated style for layer and export it to a SLD file, then QGIS encodes the style using a stack of filtered rules which is correct to reproduce the rendering. Let's re-import this SLD file in QGIS to style the layer. QGIS is able to do it and you get the right rendering, BUT the user interface doesn't present the Graduated UI of the style builder anymore, rather it presents the rule-based UI.

Wouldn't it be relevant to take benefits of SE1.1 Recode and Categorize transformation functions which seem to correspond to these Categorized and Graduated "cartographic patterns" ?

Regards,
Olivier.
