Last time I needed to extract that data I did a little awk script.

If you use it as "awk -f CodeExtract.awk input_file > output_file" it should 
give you a csv with the symbol code (which is helpful for what I was doing), 
value, and description.

I don't have windows just at the minute to check with, but if you run it from 
the OSGeo Shell that was installed with QGIS it should work fine. I'll check 
when I get into work.



I don't use databases normally, so I'm not sure what you would need to do for 
that bit.
