Hi,

The Table Manager Plugin is useful, but I think it should have some
other tools :

- possibility to change the type and the length of a field (not only his
name) : for example : /*Country_Code, Num, 10 ==> Country_Code, String,
50*/ ...

changing numerical fields to string fields will work ok but what about the other way round? There may be strings that cannot be represented as numbers. IMHO using the calculator is the preferred method in these cases (though you create a new field)

(this would be great because when we import a layer from a csv file,
QGIS automaticaly recognizes the type of fields and length, with many
possibilities of errors, and no way to force it ...).

Hmm, this looks more like a question of the csv importer than the tableManager

- possibilty to delete a layer (I mean, really deleate all the files in
the computer, not only close it in QGIS).

I don't really know how to submit those ideas (it might yet have been
done by another one ?), and furtheless how to help to do it.
If someone have the knowledge or skills that I don't have, please let us
know how to help ...

And thanks a lot to all people that makes this project being so dynamic !

Hi Brett,

Your best bet is to install the Table Manager plugin.

    Hi Folks,

Can I change/edit the name of attributes within the attribute
table for SHP files. I don’t want to edit the values in the
    table, just the name.

    Running 1.8 Lisboa
