Thanks, but the fact remains OpenLayers plugin is required for many
users because some tile image providers do not allow direct access.
For instance, Google says that Google Maps tile images should be used
through the API [1] (10.1.1 (a) No Access to Maps API(s) except
through the Service).
The Earth is more than Google ;-)
Just try out what others have to offer.
