In addition, the following square is to connect > seamlessly > For me, the fastest way to do this would be to use Andreas suggestion, the Vector Grid, to create the the necessary number of squares (Polygons), say 18 x 2. Like Andre said, they will be aligned with the coordinate system and not with your working area. But that is not a problem, cause you can edit the layer, select the desired squares, and use Rotate feature and move feature in the digitizing toolbar to align and put the squares over your working area.
