Hi! There is the nice QConsolidate plugin available from Alexander Bruy! It takes every source in your project file and stores them together with the project file into a seperate directory as shape files.
I don't know how often you "double used" a source .. but keeping the Projects together and migrating them to a new Computer this might be a practical solution.!
