This might be a bug but you can postprocess the geotiff as you want.

As long as you can define the original chart CRS in proj4 format (I
guess it can be done but I do not know how) there are several ways.
The easiest one (from my POV): set the project CRS to match the
original chart CRS, enable 'on the fly projection' CRS  transformation
and then use the print composer.

There is support for geopdf but I don't think it's the same thing. And
