I am looking for this too. I saw this reply to a similar question in another discussion group: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/23280/is-there-a-tabulate-area-function-in-qgis.
For the Cross-Classification and Tabulation tool mentioned, make sure the Processing plugin is loaded in QGIS (2.6), then Processing > Processing Toolbox > Geoalgorithms > Raster > General Tools > Cross-Classification and Tabulation. The LecoS plugin mentioned requires Scipy - see https://conservationecology.wordpress.com/qgis-plugins-and-scripts/lecos-land-cover-statistics/. Sorry, I haven't tried these suggestions yet so I do not know if they are helpful. The post is from 2012 so that may be an issue.
