If you installed QGIS from the Fedora repository, QGIS 2.8 will probably be available with the Fedora 22 release. If you want 2.8 before then, you'll have to install from a third party repository or build it yourself. I unfortunately cannot suggest a repo to install from as I build it myself.

I am receiving a message in QGIS 2.6 that 2.8 is available, but when I go
to
update it, Fedora says there is nothing to do, then when I try a straight
install, it tells me the latest build is still 2.6 for Fedora. Any
suggestions?
