Thanks for all the suggestions about this problem. I am now facing the problem that when I try to upload the sites through the add repository button I get a message that the network has timed out. I've tried this in several locations using different WiFi services so I'm wondering if there is either a problem with my laptop or a general problem with Qgis 2.8? Any advice please?
