On this link:

click Map Service
On that page look at the top and you will see WMTS - Click on that.
Copy that URL
1. Click in QGIS on your manage layers toolbar on QMS/WMTS Icon
2. Click New
3. Give it a name and copy (this is the URL you copied above):
http://services.arcgisonline.com/arcgis/rest/services/World_Shaded_Relief/MapServer/WMTS/1.0.0/WMTSCapabilities.xml
4. Click OK
5. Click Connect
and You should have it in QGIS.
Good Luck!
Randy

Does anybody know whether it is possible to display the ESRI World
Shaded Relief at
http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=9c5370d0b54f4de1b48a3792d7377ff2
in QGIS? I couldn't see a way of adding it as a WMS (but I was
inspired by this
https://ieqgis.wordpress.com/2014/08/09/adding-esris-online-world-imagery-dataset-to-qgis/
to think that it may be possible).
With thanks, Martin
