Hi,
I am assuming QGIS cannot read this projection? If it could, it would
show up in the user defined projections. You could look here
(http://www.epsg-registry.org) for more information.
On way is to try out your different options. Open the layer in one code
then open the open layer plugin (you need to install that plugin first).
Make sure you have "projection on the fly" activated on your options because
open layer will change your project projections.
If you are not in the right spot, right click the layer and select another
projection. Zoom to layer extent then see if it helps. You could
also download some open street map layer of the region (vector menu) , to
help out.

Hi all, I am new to GIS so I apologize for this rather basic question.
I have a shapefile (ArcGIS) with the corresponding .prj file coded as below:
PROJCS["Kertau_RSO_Malaya_Meters",GEOGCS["GCS_Kertau",DATUM["D_Kertau",SPHEROID["Everest_1830_Modified",6377304.063,300.8017]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0],UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]],PROJECTION["Rectified_Skew_Orthomorphic_Natural_Origin"],PARAMETER["False_Easting",804671.299775],PARAMETER["False_Northing",0.0],PARAMETER["Scale_Factor",0.99984],PARAMETER["Azimuth",-36.97420943711801],PARAMETER["Longitude_Of_Center",102.25],PARAMETER["Latitude_Of_Center",4.0],PARAMETER["XY_Plane_Rotation",-36.86989764584402],UNIT["Meter",1.0]]
My questions are: 1) when I call this shp file into QGIS, which CRS should I
choose to match the prj file? 2) does it match the Kertau (RSO)/RSO Malaya (m)
(EPSG:3168) which has these codes +proj=omerc +lat_0=4
+lonc=102.25 +alpha=323.0257905 +k=0.99984
+x_0=804670.24 +y_0=0 +no_uoff
+gamma=323.1301023611111 +a=6377295.664
+b=6356094.667915204 +units=m +no_defs 3) or does it match
the Kertau (RSO)/RSO Malaya (ch) (EPSG:3167) which has these codes
+proj=omerc +lat_0=4 +lonc=102.25
+alpha=323.0257905 +k=0.99984 +x_0=40000 +y_0=0
+no_uoff +gamma=323.1301023611111 +a=6377295.664
+b=6356094.667915204 +to_meter=20.116756 +no_defs Any help
is greatly appreciated Thanks Kamarul -- Dr. Kamarul Imran Musa, M.D.
