Hi Andreas,
I can imagine users wanting to export a "map" with legend, annotations
etc. with world file e.g. to serve through WMS or give to third parties
(I am not judging if this is a sensible wish :) So why not support it
and have the user set the map to be used if several maps are in the
composer? This is especially true if it used to work in former versions
(I do not know if this is true, though)
my 2 cents

hm on my system with QGIS master I don't get the world file. Is there
some setting?
it works fine from the QGIS main window, but not from the print
composer. But then I don't understand how it should work anyway. If you
have multiple maps on the composer - which one should be used for the
worldfile. I don't see much point in exporting a world file from print
composer.
If the only reason is the increased dpi support we should add the
DPI-setting to the export in main QGIS and not support world files in
print composer.

hi,
i see that the print composer doesn't allow to export the layout as
an image
with its proper world file anymore.
i seem that previous versions had this possibility.
is this a regression?
do i have to open a ticket?
with both 2.8 and developing versions I am able to export a world file
from composer.
This feature was introduced since the 2.2 version. Which version are
you trying with?
