Hi
Srtm have many versions with two pixel sizes. 30 m and 90m (at the
equator). Version has gaps, version two has gap filling for water and small
hole and version 3 has gap replacement in larger areas. Gaps are caused
by radar shadows. Big gaps are filled using secondary dems. The are
all downloadable for free. The latest version in srtmGL1 of the 30m
pixels. NASA is currently working on a new version called NASA
dems. If the are existent for your region, use those.
