I, too, was having problems with the qgis print composer mangling maps that had an Open Layers component. I installed the QuickMapServices plugin, as you suggested, and re-rendered my layers accordingly. My problems immediately went away. Thank you! Moreover, as a bonus, the QuickMapServices OpenStreetMap layer now has properties I can tweak, which Open Layers still lacks. (In this case, I needed to dial up transparency, which I still cannot do from within qgis.) So not only did using QuickMapServices resolve my problem, but also made my work flow a little simpler, too. Cheers, Mark
