If you look under Raster -> conversion -> polygonize that should do the
trick.
If you're back on 2.6.1 you might want to (at some point) upgrade to 2.8
or 2.14 for more stability and a longer term release (actually 2.14 is
the new LTR as 2.8 nears it's end of life).
Good Luck.

Hi there,
I am trying to convert a raster to a vector, and I was told I should
look under the Raster menu bar, under the heading, "conversion," and
then look for, "translate." I'm looking under the raster toolbar
(q2.6.1), and I can't find this. Are these instructions correct? Are
there other suggestions on converting a raster to vector?
Thanks
