The way I like to think of Preset is like Virtual Canvas: users can have multiple combination of layers visibility and styles. Multi-style also works with Presets (i.e. you can have Style 1 with Layer A in Preset 1 and Style 2 with Layer A in Preset 2). So, in essence, you can replicate Mapinfo's multiple window feature using Preset.
