Hi Stephen,

 

If the site has geojson url's for the data then simply copy the URL for the 
dataset required and then in QGIS

 

Add vector layer, tick Protocol box and in the URL to the URI box - data will 
appear in your project when downloaded. This will be a live connection.

 

If they are downloadable geojson the simply download them and Add vector layer, 
tick the file box, then browse to your downloaded file.
