Adding data is supported as well and works in many projects.
Good choice to look into the log, can you explain how you did that and
share a screenshot of that?
And maybe also share the data?

I seem to be able to edit offline objects (for example, move a point
object or edit it’s attributes), and synching back to the QGIS project
works and shows the edits.
