In my tests QGIS uses installed fonts but you will have to distribute them yourself.
I think it might be beneficial for the QGIS to read fonts made available with the QGIS Resource Sharing Plugin though, so a feature request may be in order (I don't think this is currently supported, but someone else might have an idea).
