Hi Kirk, Indeed, converting to vector and styling it using rule-based styling is an option. Having contour renderer for raster will avoid extra processing and data conversion. With contour rendering of raster, you can also use "Resampling" for creating smooth contours on the fly.
@Azzura, unfortunately, labelling is not available at the moment for raster contour renderer. We may add it in future releases.
