Hi Dario,this really depends on the use cases and the reasons for slowness. Some questions to get you started:
Are the rest of the team editing the base map? Its style? Or is it really just a backdrop for them? How often is it updated? You might be able to generate raster or vector tiles for highly efficient access to them if they are static.
