Rasters sometimes have more than one file with the same name for each raster.
A good rule of thumb is to open the largest file. The documentation for adding
rasters to a project will help you with the procedure. The link below is to the
current Long Term Release documentation 3.22. 3.8 is quite old.
https://docs.qgis.org/3.22/en/docs/training_manual/rasters/index.html

You may also be using vector data from Ordinance Survey, so from the Data
Source Manager click on vector on the left and select Directory for source type
and UK.NTF2 from type and then navigate to your data file.

Nicolas, everyone,

Sorry to top post here but I'm not sure where to start below.

What about just using the various drawing tools on the print layout?
Arrows can be added, annotation, polylines, that sort of thing?  Of course
it's not in the original data / layers, but is that important?

Hi Chris,

Dimensions here are not annotations.? I believe the original post was
referring to what AutoCad refers to as "Extrude" as seen here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PdysbeHHXo8.

Cheer!

Nicolas

Hi,
A workaround I use I in my work is to actually use autocad for drawing the
dimensions (or anything else) and then import a dxf file in qgis, either as
shapes or as a vector layer.
What I do is export a polygon in dxf, draw the dimensions  in autocad and
import it back into qgis. With a little styling, the dimensions will look
exactly the same as in autocad. A tip is to use different layers in autocad
as it's easier to apply styles in qgis afterwards.

Hope this helps,
Alexandru

Subject: [Qgis-user] Using OS Raster Data in QGIS
Message-ID:

Hi, I used QGIS about 4 years ago to produce maps for 1:25,000 and 1:50,000 OS
maps, I feel a fool now, but I am struggling to get QGIS 2.18.28 to upload the
files in the Raster (miscellaneous) section as I used to do. I just get all the
files not being recognised.

I have downloaded the latest QGIS 3.8, but do not understand this one at all.

Could someone help me with a step by step loading of the OS raster data into
the QGIS system so that I can produce some maps please?

I also have the Geo referencing and sea tiles but again QGIS does not seem to
like them. I am using EPSG:27700

Thank You
Derek
