Hi Pierre,
you need to install and use a QGIS distribution that is built against a PDAL library version >= 2.5.0. It is not sufficient to somehow install PDAL somewhere on your system and use a QGIS distribution that is not build against such PDAL version.

So, if you want to use QGIS distributed by MacPorts, then you need to install QGIS from MacPorts and use QGIS installed from MacPorts [1].
